Macon, Ga. – As ETSU extended its winning streak to seven, including four
league victories, Jennifer Emerson has led the charge for the Lady Bucs. She was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week today by the conference office
The senior setter dished out 186 assists in the Lady Bucs' three victories
last week, as well as consecutive 60-plus assist performances, including a career
high 67 in ETSU's five-game victory over Chattanooga. Emerson followed up her
performance against the Lady Mocs with a 64 assist outing against Jacksonville
and accumulating 55 assists against North Florida, helping the Lady Bucs to
their first 4-0 start in conference play since 1991.
On the season, the Tracy, Calif. native is second in the conference, averaging
13.07 assists per game overall and 12.93 assists in conference matches, ranking
19th in the nation.
The Bucs will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to North Carolina
A&T for a noon-conference matchup.
The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida
and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.

-- Schuler led Belmont to victories over Tennessee State and Lipscomb. She helped
Bruins extend their program-record match win streak to eleven.
Femi Alabi, CAM
(So. - OH - Jos, Nigeria - Business Admin.) -- Alabi helped lift the Camels
to their best Atlantic Sun start in the past five years, setting a career-high
with 19 kills and 10 blocks in Campbell's victory over Stetson.
Bethany Martin, GWU
(So. - MB - Beaver Dam, Wis. - Undecided)-- Martin posted
45 kills in three matches for the Bulldogs, 37 of which came in two A-Sun wins.
She shattered her career high with 23 kills in the 3-1 win over Mercer.
Melissa Merchant,
JU (Jr. - MB - Oakley, Calif. - Political Science) -- Merchant recorded
16 blocks in two matches for the Dolphins. She helped the Dolphins to a conference
record 23 blocks against ETSU. Her 12 blocks against ETSU tied the record for
most blocks in a conference match set in 2003.
Kelly Jansen, MER
(So. - S - Philadelphia, Pa. - Business) -- Jansen recorded her first career
double-double agaist Gardner-Webb and also moved into the fifth-place spot in
the Mercer record books for career digs.
