Bisons' Caitlin Dotson Named Volleyball Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. – Catilin Dotson tallied 95 assists with a double-double in two games and helped the Bisons to a pair of conference road wins to remain perfect in the A-Sun over the weekend to claim the A-Sun Volleyball Player of the Week honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caitlin Dotson, Lipscomb (Junior – Setter – Cookeville, Tenn. – Pre-Med)

• Tallied 95 assists helping the Bisons to a perfect 2-0 record during the week and a 7-0 start to the Atlantic Sun Conference

• Posted a double-double on the road against USC Upstate with 42 assists, 12 digs, one serve ace and one block assists

• Just missed another double-double with 53 assists, nine digs and a career-high six kills on the road against ETSU

• Averaged 13.57 assists per set, including a 14.00 assists per set against the Spartans

• Has 11 matches of at least 40 assists and seven double-doubles on the season

• Leads the A-Sun with 12.26 assists per set in conference play and ranked 30th in the NCAA in assists per set entering last weekend

• Helped lead the Lady Bisons to a .258 hitting percentage in A-Sun play, which is tied for first place in the A-Sun


• Baylee Strachan, Kennesaw State – Compiled a hitting percentage of .520 while totaling 32 kills and only six errors as a middle blocker… Hit .643 with 10 kills at Alabama State… Had 11 kills at Jacksonville as well as 11 at North Florida… Hit .556 during the win over JU and .389 against UNF… Now hitting .395 in conference matches only

• Kaitlin Holm, Florida Gulf Coast – Helped lead FGCU to a 2-0 week and helped give head coach Dave Nichols his 350th career win...Has helped the Eagles win seven consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference matches, sweep six of their last seven opponents, win 16 consecutive sets in conference play and are off to the best A-Sun start in program history (7-0)

• Molly Locke, Mercer – Posted a pair of double-doubles in Mercer's road trip to Jacksonville, Florida...Pounded out 16 kills with 17 digs and five total blocks in Friday night's five-set win at North Florida...Posted totals of 15 kills, 16 digs and two total blocks against Jacksonville

• Kayle Eversgerd, USC Upstate – Recorded two-straight double-doubles in back-to-back conference matches...Tallied a 12-kill, 11-dig performance against Lipscomb and a 16-kill, 18-dig outing against Northern Kentucky for her fifth double-double of the season...Averaged a double-double on the week in three matches with 11.66 kills per match and 11.33 digs per contest

• Khadijah Wiley, ETSU – Hit a blistering .696 in the five-set win over Northern Kentucky, marking the highest attack percentage by an ETSU player with at least 20 attempts… Set a new career best with 18 kills…The .696 attack percentage was also the third best in the conference this season, and the highest in a five-set match…Wiley only recorded three attack errors on 39 attempts on the weekend, while recording 26 kills (.590 percentage for the week)

• Kelly Morrissey, Northern Kentucky – Recorded a career-high 22 kills in a 3-2 loss to ETSU and threatened a triple-double, adding seven assists and eight digs...posted a double-double in a 3-1 win over Upstate with 15 kills and 18 digs, leading the team in both categories

• Kaley Melville, Stetson – Averaged 3.56 kills and 2.11 digs per set last week...served five aces...Hit .360 against Savannah State (12-3-25)

• Sammie Strausbaugh, Jacksonville – Led JU with 33 kills, five aces and 37 digs in three matches last week at home…recorded double-doubles in five-set matches against Kennesaw State (13 kills, 15 digs) and Mercer (14 kills, 19 digs)...recorded four aces in JU’s five-set win vs. Mercer
