Macon, Ga. – Leading Belmont to an undefeated week, Colleen Nilson was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week Monday by the conference office. Nilson set and tied her own single match career-high in assists in a solid 2-0 week for the Bruins.
The junior setter amassed 136 assists (17.00 apg), 33 digs, four blocks, five aces and hit .478 in eight games against conference foes. Against UNF, Nilson hit .444, racked up 68 kills and 16 digs in the 3-1 win. She came back the next night picking up 68 more assists, 17 digs and hitting .500 against Jacksonville.
Nilson, a McHenry, Ill. native, leads Belmont with 14 double-doubles this season, leads the A-Sun in assists and ranks second in the league in aces. She is currently 28th in the nation in assists. Nilson is a political science major.
The Bruins take on Tennessee Tech Nov. 7 at 6 pm and will be the No. 2 seed going into the 2006 A-Sun Volleyball Tournament Nov. 17-18.
The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.

Callie Kiselich, ETSU (Jr. - MB - Colorado Springs, Colo. - Education) -- Kiselich nailed 30 kills in two matches last week, averaging five kills per game as the Lady Bucs swept past Western Carolina and Milligan extending their school-record winning streak to 14.
Ann Mullins, LIP (Sr. - L - Nashville, Tenn. - Psychology) -- Mullins cleaned up 81 digs in 13 games against Tennessee State, Jacksonville, and UNF.
Jen Darty, MER (Fr. - MB - Orlando, Fla. - Undecided) -- Darty had 19 kills, 14 blocks and hit .375 for the week.
Laura Boyd, STET (Fr. - MB - La Crescenta, Calif. - Rehabilitative Studies) -- Boyd posted 21 kills and hit .475 in seven games against Mercer and Savannah State.
