NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After dropping their season opener to UT Martin in the Georgia State First Pitch Classic, the Lady Bisons roared back into action, defeating preseason No. 18 Georgia Tech, 11-9, highlighting a weekend of wins by A-Sun schools against big conference opponents. Earlier in the week, Jacksonville defeated Minnesota on Thursday and Kennesaw State beat Georgetown and Ole Miss on consecutive days.
Shortstop Abby Keese lead the impressive Lady Bisons offense going three for three with 3 runs on 3 hits and 4 RBI's.
Her three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning gave the Lady Bisons the win.
Nine Lady Bisons totaled for thirteen hits.
"I told our girls that to win a game against a team like Georgia Tech is so huge for our program. They need to be proud of how they worked," says head Coach Kristin Peck. " For us to battle back like we did really says a lot about this team, and our effort and our heart. I could not be more proud of them."
The Lady Bisons who improve to 1-1 play host team Georgia State at 12:15 EST and in a tournament game to be determined.
