MACON, Ga. – ETSU's Jackie Baird and Kennesaw State's Amanda Henderson landed Atlantic Sun Softball Weekly Honors, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Baird was hot at the plate, going 11-for-17 for the Buccaneers, while Henderson posted three wins for the Owls in the circle.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Jackie Baird, ETSU (Jr. – 3B – Ooltewah, Tenn. – Exercise Science)
- First Career Player of the Week award; first for ETSU since the 2009 season
- Went 11-for-17 at the plate to collect a weekend batting average of .647 at the College of Charleston Classic
- Leads the Buccaneers this season with a batting average of .577; second in the A-Sun
- Knocked out the game-winning home run vs. the College of Charleston
- Slugged over 1.000 and ended the weekend with three runs, four RBIs, four doubles and a homer
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Chelsea Zgrabik (Jr., FGCU) – Collected a home run and seven RBIs in the Eagles opening week of the season
- McKenzie Woody (Jr., Mercer) – Recorded five stolen bases and four runs in four games for the Bears
- Marissa Thomas (Jr., North Florida) – Led UNF in hits (6), doubles (2), RBI (6) and total bases (11) in the week
- Kaylee Williams (So., Kennesaw State) – Registered three RBIs out of the Owls five runs in the weekend of play
- Sarah Simon (Sr., Jacksonville) – Hit a home run vs. No. 5 Florida and tallied six RBIs on the weekend
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Amanda Henderson, Kennesaw State (Jr. – P – Covington, Ga. – Exercise & Health Science)
- Third Career Pitcher of the Week award; second this season
- Earned three wins including two complete game shutouts for the Owls at the KSU Classic
- Registered a 0.00 ERA and did not give up a run, while only allowing nine hits in 18 innings of work
- Tallied 10 strikeouts against IUPUI, nine versus Tennessee Tech and six against SIUE
- Henderson currently sits at 6-0 on the season with an ERA of 0.54 and 51 total strikeouts
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Kaylie Wallace (So., North Florida) – Went 2-0 on four appearances for the week for the Ospreys
- Anna Miller (Jr., USC Upstate) – Became the fifth Spartan to throw a no-hitter in program history vs. George Mason
- Sam Harrell (Fr., ETSU) – Recorded her first collegiate shutout, blanking Towson through 7 innings
- Cecile Gomez (Fr., Jacksonville) – Struck out 13 batters in 14 innings of action for the Dolphins
- Shelby Morgan (So., FGCU) – Threw three complete games and two shutouts for the Eagles
- Meredith Owen (Jr., Stetson) – Tossed a five-hit, 5-1 complete game victory over Buffalo
