ETSU's Haverman and UNF's Parenteau Share Player of the Week; UNF's Pitts Earns Pitcher of the Week

Macon, Ga. -- ETSU's Amanda Haverman (Kirkwood, Mo./Sports Management) and
UNF's Ashley Parenteau (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Special Education) earned Co-Player
of the Week honors while UNF's Kelli Pitts (Jacksonville, Fla./Nursing) was
named Pitcher of the Week honors as announced today by the conference office.
Haverman hit .500 for the week, including a 3-for-5 performance in the doubleheader
sweep over league-leader Stetson and was only one of three Lady Bucs to record
a hit against a powerful Virginia Tech pitching staff. The sophomore went 4-for-8
on the week, with two homeruns, seven RBI, and two runs scored; posted a 1.250
slugging percent with 10 total bases - hit a two-out grand slam in the fifth
inning to lift ETSU to the 4-1 game one victory over Stetson and hit a three-run
blast in game two.
Parenteau
had two game-winning home runs against crosstown rival Jacksonville, including
a walk-off home run in the opening game of a doubleheader in the bottom of the
10th inning. She followed that with another home run in the nightcap that broke
open a 1-1 tie. For the week the junior hit .429, going 6-for-14 at the plate
with six RBIs, a walk and a sacrifice fly along with an .857 slugging percentage
and a .438 on-base percentage. Parenteau had two multi-hit games on the week
and extended her hitting streak to 11 games.
Pitts
closed out her career at the UNF Softball Complex with a pair of wins this week,
going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Pitts did not allow an earned run against Jacksonville
or Armstrong Atlantic State, allowing only one extra base hit in 13 innings
of work. Pitts walked two and struck out 10 hitters on the week, including a
season-high seven strikeouts against Jacksonville.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Monday during
the 2006 softball campaign.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.

Kathryn Stauffer, FAU (Fr. - RHP - Pembroke Pines, Fla. - Undecided)
--Stauffer went 1-0 and struck out 10 batters in 11 innings as
FAU went 3-1 in A-Sun play and threw first career no-hitter in Saturday's 8-0
win over Mercer.
Lindsey Freitag, JU (Sr. - 3B - Lake Stevens, Wash. - Pre- Elementary
Education) -- Freitag went 4-for-5 with her first career triple and a career-best
five RBI in game one against Florida Atlantic. Cambria McKay, KSU (Sr. - C - Brompton, Ontario - Sports
Management) -- McKay batted .412 with a double, two homeruns and five
RBI. The senior catcher notched a slugging percentage of .824, walked four times,
and tallied 14 total bases.
Katie Rosentreter, MER (Sr. - P - Winnipeg, Manitoba - Business)
-- Tossed two complete games this week against conference favorites Kennesaw
State and Florida Atlantic. She lowered her ERA from 1.95 entering the week
to 1.88.
Erica Demers, STET (Fr. - RHP - Miami, Fla. - Undecided) -- Demers helped
Stetson to a 4-2 week on the road in league play as she posted a 3-1 mark in
the circle. She posted a 1.22 ERA while striking out 17 batters in 23.0 innings
of work. Demers did not allow an earned run in her first 21 innings last week.
