BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Former Army standout Nicki Carr has been named assistant softball coach, Campbell head coach Drew Peterson announced this afternoon, Sept. 29. With the Camels, Carr's primary responsibilities will be with the hitters and the outfielders. She will also oversee the team's academic progress, equipment management and the team's strength and conditioning program.
"The benefits of adding Nicki to our staff can’t be overstated considering the wealth of experience she has leading individuals, her high level of integrity and work ethic, and her great understanding of team dynamics," said Peterson. "Of course her success as a student-athlete gives her instant credibility, but her competitive drive and ability to positively overcome adverse situations will also serve as a tremendous example to our ladies."
Carr, formerly Nicki Robbins, joins the Fighting Camels after six years in the Army holding a variety of leadership positions as a commissioned officer in the Air Defense Artillery including Launcher Platoon Leader, Tactical Control Officer, Battery Executive Officer, Battalion Tactical Director, Battalion Unit Movement Officer, Brigade Adjutant and Training Support System Integration Officer in the Acquisition Corps. She also serves as an Adjunct Department of Defense Contractor with Alion Science and Technology.
The Seminole, Fla. native has lived throughout the world during her military career with duty assignments in Missouri, Hawaii, Thailand, Texas, Georgia, Germany, Kuwait, France, and Virginia.
