Ashcraft and Lee assume new duties at Campbell

Date Posted: 9/9/2008

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell University has named Malinda Ashcraft Associate Athletics Director of Academic Services and Senior Women's Administrator, while Heather Lee has been named Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance.

The moves follow the resignation of Senior Associate A.D and SWA Debbie Richardson, who has accepted another position within intercollegiate athletics.

"We are very sad to see Debbie Richardson leave," said Director of Athletics Stan Williamson. "She has been a vital part of our athletic program for more than a decade. However, we are excited to have two individuals in Malinda Ashcraft and Heather Lee, who are highly qualified to take over leadership roles in our department."

With Richardson's departure, the University will begin a search for an Associate Athletics Director for Operations.

Ashcraft, who has been a member of Campbell's Compliance and Academic Services staff since January, brings two decades of administrative and coaching experience to her position. She will responsible for overseeing the University's student-athlete academic services, including the CHAMPS/Lifeskills program.

As Senior Women's Administrator, Ashcraft will represent the Campbell University athletic department in all Atlantic Sun Conference and NCAA matters regarding women's sports as designated by the NCAA. In addition, she will serve as University Title IX Officer.

Ashcraft spent five seasons (2003-2007) as head volleyball coach at Campbell and nine years (1990-98) in the same position at Samford University, where she left as the winningest coach in school volleyball history.

In addition to her volleyball responsibilities, Ashcraft also served as Samford's Senior Women's Administrator for the athletics department where she assisted with NCAA compliance issues and oversaw selected women's sports programs and personnel.
