JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU head strength & conditioning coach Todd Moyer put the major pieces of his staff together by naming Cole Pope as his assistant strength & conditioning coach and Javon Hubbard as his strength & conditioning intern.
Pope begins his first season with the Dolphin staff after serving as the assistant strength & conditioning specialist at Central Connecticut State last season. With JU, Pope will be in charge of implementing workout programs for football, track & field, cross country and softball.
"Cole is a young, energetic strength coach who the athletes can feed off of for motivation in the weight room," Moyer said. "I have no doubt he will do a great job working with the strength staff, coaches and athletes."
Last season at CCSU, Pope developed and implemented programs for women's swimming, baseball and softball while also assisting in the programs for all 16 Blue Devil sports. With football, which competes at the Football Championship Subdivision level in the Northeast Conference, he assisted in the development of the strength, speed and agility programs as the Blue Devils finished second in the conference with a 4-2 mark. Prior to his move up north, Pope served as a graduate assistant strength & conditioning specialist at his alma mater, Troy University, from 2005-07. While with the Trojans, he worked primarily with the baseball program while assisting with football. During that time, he also worked as a speed, agility and conditioning specialist with Velocity Sports Performance during the summer of 2005.
As a student-athlete, Pope was a four-year letterwinner in baseball as a catcher from 2001-04 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in sports and fitness management from Troy in 2004.
