MACON, Ga. – Mercer University Athletics Director Bobby Pope announced the
hiring of Mike Raynor as the interim softball coach Wednesday.
Raynor is the fifth head coach in school history, taking over a team that returns
eight starters and finished with a 26-28 overall record and a 12-6 record in
Atlantic Sun Conference play last season.
Raynor has coached travel teams in Cobb County for the past 14 years, most
recently serving as coach for the East Cobb Bullets Gold team. His teams won
two national championships and five state championships. Last year, he also
served as a community coach at Sequoyah High School, the 2006 AAAA State Champions.
