JU names Pamela Shelley Assistant Women's Golf Coach

Date Posted: 8/28/2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Former Dolphin Pamela Shelley has come back to work at her alma mater as she was named assistant women's golf coach Monday.

A four-year letterwinner at JU, Shelley was the team captain in 2005 and earned team MVP honors after finishing the season with the lowest stroke average on the team.

"I'm excited about this opportunity to help build the women's golf program at my alma mater," Shelley said. "This program has a lot of potential and I'm looking forward to taking the program to the next level.

The 2004 Alachua County Amateur Champion, Shelley also works at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.

"With the addition of Pamela to the coaching staff, it gives our women's program a role model," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "She knows what it is like to be a collegiate golfer and what it takes to be successful at this level. With her knowledge and experience, she will be a great fit for our program."
