Macon, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference has named Betsy Kidd as Coordinator of Softball Umpires, effective immediately. Kidd will coordinate all aspects of the softball umpiring program and will begin assigning all umpires for A-Sun teams in the 2007 season.
“We are very pleased to bring Betsy onto the A-Sun team,” said Commissioner Bill Bibb. “A-Sun softball has been outstanding and we are excited about having our umpiring program grow in the same positive manner. With her experience and dedication we know we will continue to develop an outstanding softball umpiring program.”
Kidd, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, has been involved with fastpitch umpiring for the past ten years. Along with her on-field umpiring, including several NCAA postseason selections, she also coordinates the assignments for the Southern States Athletic Conference (NAIA), Region XVII of the National Junior College Athletic Association and for the Southeastern Collegiate Umpires Association.
“I look forward to working with the Atlantic Sun Conference and raising the bar for the umpires in the Southeast. A-Sun schools are continually improving their softball play and are competing well both regionally and nationally. We intend to build an umpiring program that will keep pace with that improving performance and provide the best competitive experience possible for the student-athletes.”
Kidd played softball and volleyball for West Georgia College while earning a BBA in Marketing and received her MBA from Georgia State University in 1993. She started her own legal services company in 1992 and now her firm, By Way of Courier, has more than 300 loyal customers.
