MACON, Ga. – USC Upstate's Shellie Robinson and Lipscomb's Whitney Kiihnl earned the Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors, announced by the league office on Monday. Robinson batted .778 on the week with four RBI to lead the Spartans to a 2-0 sweep of Appalachian State, while Kiihnl posted a 4-0 record with 22 strikeouts.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Shellie Robinson, USC Upstate (OF - Fr. - DeLand, Fla. - Chemistry)
- First Career A-Sun Player of the Week award
- Batted .778 on the week (7-for-9) with three home runs
- Added four RBI with five runs scored to help the Spartans to a sweep of Appalachian State
- Ended the week with a 1.778 slugging percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Kelsey Cartwright (IF, Lipscomb) – Had three homers, eight RBI and five runs scored
- Chelsea Zgrabik (C, FGCU) – Had a two-run homer against ACC foe Maryland. Finished the week batting .667 with four RBI
- Lindsay Vollmer (C, Kennesaw State) – Extended her hitting streak to seven games and hit her sixth home run of the season
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Whitney Kiihnl, Lipscomb (Sr. – Batesville, Miss. – Biology)
- Twelfth Career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week; third of the season
- Went 4-0 helping the Bison to a 4-1 record for the week
- Had 22 strikeouts in 24.1 innings pitched
- Posted a 0.58 ERA and held opponents to a .165 batting average
- Tied a season-high 11 strikeouts while tossing a complete-game against Ball State to finish the week
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Shelby Morgan (Fr., FGCU) – Went 2-0 on the week with a 1.02 ERA
