MACON, Ga. – This year fans of the Atlantic Sun Conference have even more ways to follow and enjoy the men’s and women’s Division I college basketball action at the 2012 General Shale Atlantic Sun Basketball Championship.
The 2012 season has been full of great team achievements and outstanding individual performances which continue to showcase the institutions and the outstanding student-athletes of the Atlantic Sun Conference. As attention zeroes in on the General Shale Championship, the A-Sun is proud to announce several new enhancements to its coverage of the championships.
Along with its regular All-Conference release, the A-Sun featured the 2012 All-Conference video to recognize the top individual achievers of the season as voted on by the conference’s coaches. The video highlights the accomplishments of each A-Sun All-Conference First Team selection, along with headshots of Second Team selections, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honorees.
Another new feature of this year's coverage includes fresh, up-to-date stories written daily by professional guest bloggers on the A-Sun’s blogspot, the Atlantic Sun Insider. Regular posts by Macon Telegraph Sports Editor Daniel Shirley and Telegraph correspondent Brandon Webb from each men’s and women’s contest will focus on unique aspects from the games, or often tell stories outside of the games themselves.
The A-Sun will follow the action from tip to the post-game press conference, as all eight men’s and women’s quarterfinal games on Feb. 29 and March 1 will broadcast live exclusively on ESPN3. The semifinal matchups on March 2 will then move to CSS and A-Sun.TV, along with the women’s final at Noon on March 3. The men’s final will air on ESPN2 at 7:00 p.m. on March 3.
Along with the expanded broadcast coverage, recaps of each game will also include post-game on-court interviews with each game’s top performer and video highlights from the game. For the fans who still need more, each post-game interview with coaches and players from the winning and non-advancing teams will stream live on A-Sun.TV.
For fans looking to commemorate the 2012 championship, they can take advantage of great new apparel through the A-Sun’s partnership with CRONS Brand via the online store.
