MACON, Ga. - Over the next week 50 softball games are slated for play. USC Upstate currently sits at the top of the A-Sun Standings with an 8-0 record. The Spartans are followed close behind by Stetson, with a 6-0 record.
Atlantic Sun Softball Weekly Notes:
- Jacksonville’s Kayla Ouellet is just five hits away from 200 career hits. Ouellet is the career-active leader for hits with 195. She is followed by Kennesaw State’s Jessica Cross, who has 167 hits, and Lipscomb’s Mollie Mitchell, who has 147. Ouellet also leads the A-Sun in hits on the season with 14.
- USC Upstate and Stetson top the Atlantic Sun standings after putting up another undefeated week. The Spartans advanced to 8-0 and the Hatters picked up three more wins against rival Bethune-Cookman to give them a perfect 6-0 start to the season.
- Lipscomb pitcher Whitney Kiihnl ranks fourth all-time for career strikeouts with 933, fourth all time for career pitching wins, with 74 and fifth all-time for career shutouts with 33. Kiihnl is only 27 strikeouts away from former Mercer Bear Jenni Holtz, who had 960 career strikeouts.
- Kiihnl is four pitching wins away from taking the fourth spot in the A-Sun record books away from former Hatter Erica Demers and is only three away from tying Demers. Demers has 77 and Kiihnl sits at 74.
- USC Upstate leads the league in total runs scored with 57 on the season. USC Upstate is fifth in plate appearances with 239. Jacksonville leads the league in plate appearances with 351, followed by FGCU with 305.
- After the first two weeks USC Upstate’s pitching staff leads the league with a 0.00 ERA. USC Upstate’s Hannah Alexander and Lacey Dinney. Alexander also leads the league with 47 strikeouts and eight wins. Whereas Dinney, leads the league in opposing batting average with .068. USC

- ETSU’s Sam Lower leads the league in RBI with 10. Lower is followed by North Florida’s Jackie Reese, with nine.
- Leading the league in batting average is Ericka Harris (USC Upstate) and Carolyn Boyd (Stetson) with a .500 average. USC Upstate’s Janna Lewis falls into third with a .474 average after eight games.
- Stetson leads the league in overall batting average with .374, followed by USC Upstate with .345 and North Florida rounds out the top three with .333.
