MACON, Ga. - Belmont's Kerron Johnson and Lipscomb's Malcolm Smith opened Atlantic Sun Conference play with impressive performances to win the league's weekly awards. Both set career-highs in points against Mercer, while Johnson passed out 10 assists against Kennesaw State and Smith secured his first double-double against the Owls.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Kerron Johnson, Belmont (Jr. – Guard – Huntsville, Ala. – Business Administration)
- Second Career Player of the Week award; second this season
- Scored a career-high 25 points in four-point win vs. Mercer
- Set a Curb Event Center record with 16 made free throws
- Registered first career double-double vs. Kennesaw State with 13 points and 10 assists
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Markeith Cummings (Jr., Kennesaw State) – Averaged 18.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG and 3.5 APG in two road contests
- Langston Hall (So., Mercer) – Tallied 23 points at Belmont; led Bears to win at Lipscomb
