MACON, Ga. - The Stetson and Campbell women’s basketball teams will both tip-off its non-conference game on Tuesday earlier than usual as they host students from local elementary schools for an Education Day for both schools.
The Hatters are expected to have 1,500 local children in attendance for the Volusia County Schoolchildren Day for their game against Georgia Southern, while the Camels expect close to 2,600 for their Elementary Day for the contest against North Carolina Central.
Stetson previously held the a special promotional day for area youth; on December 15, 2008, when Stetson defeated Campbell 60-50 at the Edmunds Center in front of the second-largest women's basketball crowd in school history (1,703).
Students are set to arrive on Campbell’s campus at 9 a.m. and register at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center, with a pep rally following at 9:20 a.m., featuring Lady Camel head coach Wanda Watkins, now in her 30th season at the helm of the women's basketball program. Visitors will also tour the CU campus, and enjoy geography math and healthy lifestyles sessions over the course of the morning. Each student will have the chance to see the Lady Camels take on NCCU at 11:45, following lunch.
Campbell will hold another education day on Jan. 10th for local middle school students in a game against Mercer.
