Owls Win First Title Under Brinsmead

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team claimed their first title under the supervision of head coach Rhyll Brinsmead Tuesday afternoon at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island. After setting the school and tournament record for lowest 18-hole score, 282, the Owls followed it up with a second round score of 298 and a final round score of 295 totaling an 875, +11 tournament score.

“I am so proud of the team. We fought really hard in the windy conditions to post another sub 300 round and it is a testament to the talent of this team,” Brinsmead said. “It was a true team effort over the past two days and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Sophomore Ket Preamchuen helped close out the win for the Black and Gold as the All -Atlantic Sun Conference Team honoree finished third amongst individuals, posting a 74-72-69/215, -1. Preamchuen collected 13 birdies and finished second in par-5 scoring, (4.67, -5) over 54-holes. Her third round score of 69, -3 ranks second all time in Kennesaw State history.

Freshmen Hayley Clinning finished in seventh place shooting 70-74-74/218, +2, marking the first top-10 finish in her collegiate career.
