Tangwar Takes Second Race Win; Third Weekly Award

MACON, Ga. – USC Upstate’s Joan Tangwar raced to her second individual meet title of the season and along the way earned her third career Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week award, announced Wednesday by the league office. Tangwar ran a time of 17:34.56 at the USC Upstate Invitational at the Milliken Research Park, the site for the 2010 A-Sun Cross Country Championship coming up on October 30th.

 

RUNNER OF THE WEEK:

Joan Tangwar, USC Upstate (Jr. – Eldoret, Kenya – Biology)

• Third Career A-Sun Runner of the Week award

• Won second race of the season, the USC Upstate Invitational

• Crossed the finish line in a time of 17:34.56

• Led team to a second-place finish at the meet

 

OTHER NOMINEES:

• Barrie Cohen (So., FGCU) – finished fourth out of 119 runners in a time of 18:39

• Nicole Muldowney (So., Belmont) – claimed first place at the Fast Cats Invitational in 18:21.71

• Mackenzie Howe (Sr., Kennesaw State) – took second at the UTC Invitational in the two-mile run

• Dani Walker (Fr., Lipscomb) – led team to an eighth place out of 56 teams at Chile Pepper Invite
