GREENSBORO, N.C. – Harold Sims and Duronal Monal advanced to the Quarterfinal round at the 2010 NCAA Eastern Preliminary Round of the Track & Field Championship on Thursday night.
The duo stood out among nine Atlantic Sun Conference male and female student-athletes competing on the opening night of the preliminary round of competition.
Sims finished second in his heat to automatically advance to the quarterfinals of the 400-meter hurdles. The Campbell standout posted the 10th fastest mark of the day. Monal just did reach the quarterfinal round in the 100-meter dash. His time of 10.41 claimed one of the last two spots.
Tomorrow will feature three quarterfinal heats and the duo will need to place among the top-3 in his heat or post one of the day’s fastest three times outside the auto-qualifiers.
Competition will continue tomorrow highlighted by A-Sun Championship Most Valuable Performer Josh McNair entering the ring for the shot put and A-Sun record holder Jerome McKinzie taking the runway in the high jump.
