MACON, Ga. - The Gardner-Webb men’s track team turned in several top performances at last weekend’s Radford Invitational, highlighted by thrower Matt Knippen, who on Wednesday earned the Atlantic Sun’s Male Athlete of the Week award, the conference office announced.
Knippen, a senior health and wellness major from Ottoville, Ohio, earned three top-six finishes at the Radford Invitational, highlighted by winning the shot put with a season-best mark of 15.69m. He placed third in the discus with a toss of 41.66m and sixth in the hammer throw with an effort of 47.55m.
The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship.
