Five A-Sun Track Athletes Earn Capital One Academic All-District

MACON, Ga. – Five Atlantic Sun Track and Field student-athletes landed Capital One Academic All-District First Team Honors as announced by the district’s members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

A-Sun Scholar Athletes of the Year, Lipscomb's Tessa Hoefle and ETSU's Adam Chase collected first team honors to add to their academic recognition this season.

Chase is a Mathematics major with a 4.00 grade point average (GPA), while Hoefle is an English major who also garners a 4.00 GPA.

The Lady Bisons also found sophomore Maggie Lawrence on the first team selection with a 3.87 GPA in Biology.

USC Upstate's Gilbert Kemboi continued his decorated career on and off the track as he was awarded first team honors in District Four. A senior Sociology major, Kemboi secured a 3.58 GPA.

Jacksonville's Charlene Charles completed the list of A-Sun student-athletes that earned first team accolades. The Dolphins' senior earned a 3.83 GPA as a Communications major.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
