MACON, Ga. - USC Upstate junior Javier Tori led the Spartans to a pair of conference victories over the weekend, setting up a winner-take-all match-up with ETSU for the A-Sun title this week. For his efforts, the Lima, Peru native earned his second career Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Tori, who has led the Spartans (22-2 overall, 9-0 A-Sun) to a school-record 20 straight wins, set the program record for combined wins in a career and tied the mark for career singles wins with wins in singles and doubles play on Friday afternoon at FGCU before setting the singles mark on Saturday at Stetson. With 58 career singles wins, he broke the 12-year-old school record by Jorge Ventura from 1994-97. His 122 career combined wins (58 singles wins and 64 doubles wins) passed the two-year-old record of 119 set by Stefan Dumitrescu (2003-07).
