MACON, Ga. - USC Upstate junior Arnaldo Lovera unbeaten weekend led the Spartans to a 2-1 weekend at the Yale University four-way last week. His play earned him the first Player of the Week honor of his career, the conference office announced Wednesday. Lovera joins his sister, USC Upstate senior Daniela Lovera, as a Player of the Week award winner. Daniela won the women’s tennis Player of the Week on April 4, 2008.

Lovera made an immediate impact on his reentry to the Spartan singles' lineup, as he posted two three-set wins, helping the Spartans to wins over Stony Brook and Georgetown. The Caracas, Venezuela native lifted the Spartans to a 6-0 win over Stony Brook after sitting out a 5-2 loss to Yale, winning a dramatic, come-from-behind 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 over Youssef Fassi-Fehri at No. 5 singles. The business administration major added another come-from-behind 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Adam Gross at No. 4 singles against Georgetown. Lovera improved to 45-14 all-time in singles play, moving past Sandy Franz into ninth on Upstate's all-time wins chart, just 12 from the school record , and also improved to 12-1 on the season in singles play.

Radrigo Amaral, Belmont (Belo Horizonle, Brazil – Fr. – Business) – Amaral helped lead the Bruins to a 6-1 road win over Chattanooga on Saturday. He defeated Alex Butnarcuic 6-2, 6-2.

Sander Gille, ETSU (Kuringen, Belgium – Fr. – Business) – The ETSU freshman continued his red-hot play this spring as he picked up the Bucs lone singles win against Josh Varela of third-ranked Georgia, 6-4, 6-3. Gille currently leads ETSU in wins this spring after posting a 4-2 record.
