Roux Notches First Career Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. - USC Upstate junior Jack Roux's unbeaten weekend lifted the Spartans to a pair of road victories against state of Alabama competition. His play earned him the first Player of the Week honor of his career and completed a tennis sweep for USC Upstate on the week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Roux posted a perfect 3-0 overall mark and sparked USC Upstate past Sun Belt Conference foe Troy on Saturday. The Chilean helped the Spartans to the key doubles point by clinching the split decision with an 8-6 win with partner Edgar Rodriguez at No. 3 doubles. In singles play, Roux sparked the Spartans to the narrow 4-3 win by posting a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory against Bastain Maucher at the No. 4 position. The political science major also added a doubles win later in the afternoon at Alabama State, posting an 8-1 decision at No. 2 doubles with partner Rodriguez.

Chad Pierron, Lipscomb (Wheelersburg, Ohio – Fr. – Pre-Pharmacy) – Against Austin Peay, Pierron played in the no. 3 spot of the 2nd set of doubles. He & James Murrell beat Renan Bezerra & Paco LaPuente of APSU 8-5. Pierron was the no. 3 player in singles. He won his match against Renan Bezerra 6-5, 6-2. The Bisons are now 2-0. Pierron is 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles this season.
