Give Me Sum More! Freshman Wins Second Straight

MACON, Ga. – Campbell’s Davy Sum defeated No. 53 Elon’s top singles player and ran his winning streak to seven consecutive matches at the number one singles position this past week, and on Friday the Atlantic Sun Conference awarded him his second straight Player of the Week honor..

Having now won five straight singles bouts at number one, Sum went 2-0 in singles action at this past week. His 6-4, 0-6, 10-4 win over Damon Gooch of Elon was one of just two Camel points for the match. The business administration major notched a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 win over Brent Bacon of Florida Gulf Coast, as Campbell opened A-Sun play with a 5-2 triumph.
