Macon, Ga. -- Following two, straight-set victories at the No.1 and No.2 singles
positions, ETSU's Predrag Burmazovic has been selected at the Atlantic Sun Player
of the Week, league officials announced today.
Burmazovic, a junior, business major, earned his No.1 singles win in conference
action against Mercer's Tobias Ohrstrom (6-3, 6-3) and then moved to No.2 singles
to best UAB's Johannes Spangenberg (6-4, 6-3).
The honor is the first of its kind of Burmazovic, and marks the fifth time
this season that a ETSU student-athlete has been selected at the POTW this season.
(NOTE: This is the 12th weekly award presented this season and next week will
mark the final POTW selection of the season. Prior to this season the most weekly
honors awarded in a single season was 11.)
The Atlantic Sun Player of the Week is announced every Tuesday during the
2007 tennis season.
The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and
Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
