Macon, Ga. -- Stetson's Hicham Laalej added three more wins to his No. 1 singles
record this past week en route to earning his second Atlantic Sun Athlete of
the Week award, league officials announced today.
Laalej, a freshman from Meknes, Morocco, captured wins against Gardner-Webb's
Evgeny Slesarev, Delaware's Nolan Greenburg, and Flaviu Simihaian of Davidson.
His three wins at the No. 1 singles position improved Laalej's record to 10-0
when playing at the top spot this season.
It is the second time Laalej has earned the POTW award this season. He was
previously honored on March 13.
The Atlantic Sun Player of the Week is announced every Tuesday during the
2007 tennis season.
The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and
Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
