Picardo Earns Back-to-Back Player of the Week Honors

Macon, Ga. -- Following the announcement that ETSU's Lisandro Picardo had been
named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week on Jan. 23, he and the Buccaneers
traveled to Murfreesboro, Tenn., where Picardo posted a 1-0 record in singles
play. His win clinched the match for ETSU and another POTW award for himself,
league official announced today.
Picardo, a Sport Management major from Mar del Plata, Argentina, played at
the No. 5 spot for ETSU where he defeated Middle Tennessee State's Marc Boiron
6-4, 6-3. His match was the deciding match for ETSU who upset No. 31 Middle
Tennessee State on their home courts.
With the honor, Picardo joins Warren Woolfolk (Mercer; April 4 and April 11,
2006) and Jiri Beranek (Campbell; Feb. 15 and Feb. 22) as the only student-athletes
to receive back-to-back POTW awards for men's tennis.
The Atlantic Sun Player of the Week is announced every Tuesday during the 2007
tennis season.
The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and
Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
