Stetson’s Levanovich Nets Player of the Year Honors

MACON, Ga. – Stetson’s Maksim Levanovich claims the Player of the Year honors after posting a 15-3 overall record at No. 1 singles. Levanovich and partner Chester Espie also recorded a 14-5 record at No. 2 doubles. Levanovich’s Player of the Year honor marks the third-ever men’s tennis Player of the Year award for the Hatters, who last took home the honor in 2007 when it was awarded to Hicham Laalej.

For the third time in his career Yaser Zaatini was awarded the Coach of the Year honors after leading the Buccaneers to the No. 1 seed in the conference championship after a perfect 9-0 season in conference play. Zaatini looks to lead the Bucs to their sixth consecutive conference championship.

Picking up the Freshman of the Year honors was FGCU’s Tianyu Bao. Bao becomes the first Eagle to take home the award. The freshman totaled an 8-8 singles record.

ETSU also landed a pair on the first-team all-conference team with Sander Gille, who was a unanimous selection, and Jesus Bandres. Gille put up a 13-6 overall singles record with a 7-0 record at No. 2 singles, while Bandres and partner Rogerio Ribeiro went 5-1 at No. 3 doubles to claim a spot on the second-team All-Atlantic Sun for doubles.

The Ospreys also placed a pair on the all-conference team with Moritz Buerchner and Daniel Sotomarino. Buerchner went 16-5 at No. 1 singles, while Sotomarino went 12-7 overall in singles play.

USC Upstate’s Ramiro Blanco rounded out the unanimous selections after posting a 6-3 record at No. 1 singles in conference play with a 15-3 overall singles record.

Mercer’s Pierre Tafelski and Belmont’s Henrique Norbiato closed out the first-team all-conference selections. Tafelski recorded a 7-2 No. 1 singles record in conference play, and Norbiato went 14-6 overall at singles.
