Macon, Ga. - ETSU's Enrique Olivares was named Atlantic Sun Men's Tennis Player
of the Week today en route to helping the Bucs to 11 consecutive victories.
The rookie from Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela went 3-0 in singles play and 3-0 in
doubles play. Olivares defeated Mercer's Mario Gil, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3, and Gardner-Webb's
Brad Clinard in straight sets. Olivares also knocked off Omer Abramovich from
the College of Charleston.
Olivares is 18-3 in singles, 15-2 in doubles, and 8-0 in A-Sun play. He also
helped the Bucs to an undefeated conference mark.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Tuesday during
the 2006 men's tennis campaign.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
