Macon, Ga. - The spring tennis season has officially kicked off and Florida Atlantic's
Mauricio Paiz bestowed the first Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award of the
season.
Paiz grabbed victories against the two highest ranked teams No. 11 Florida State
and No. 39 Miami. He also played both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and fell 8-2 to
the 63rd ranked doubles duo at FSU.
Paiz is a junior from Guatemala City, Guatemala native and is majoring in International
Business.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Tuesday during
the 2006 men's tennis campaign.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
