First Place on the Line in the A-Sun Game of the Week

MACON, Ga. - This Week’s A-Sun Game of the Week features the two teams that sit atop the conference standings as Campbell heads south to Deland, Fla. to take on Stetson at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Stetson Soccer Complex.
The Hatters went undefeated in non-conference play, but fell to UNF in their second match of league play. Campbell struggled in non-league play going 1-7-0 but the Camels have turned things around in A-Sun action and enter Thursday’s matchup with the Hatter undefeated in conference contests. The Camels and the Hatters have been dominate in conference play since the start of the 2005 season, Campbell owns a 29-4-5 record (.829) in A-Sun regular season play, while Stetson holds a mark of 25-8-6 (.718). The two teams sit with the best two records in the A-Sun in that time frame.
Lipscomb dealt Campbell its last regular season conference loss back on Oct. 13, 2007, which give the Camels a 17 game unbeaten streak in conference play. The Hatters hold only six conference losses in the last three years, with two of them coming at the hands of the Camels.
One of the key matchups in the match should be Campbell goalkeeper Ted Awana against the Stetson forwards. Awana, the current A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week, holds a 2.25 goals-against average with two shutouts on the season. The Hatters feature, A-Sun points leader Griffin Gilstrap, Kevin Munz, who ranks third in A-Sun points and current A-Sun Player of the Week Fredrik Brustad. Stetson goalkeeper Logan Potter leads the A-Sun in goals-against average and ranks second in save percentage. Vince Petrasso leads the Campbell attack and ranks sixth in the nation in assists per-game.
