Three A-Sun Soccer Teams Crack Regional Polls

MACON, Ga. - Three members of the Atlantic Sun Conference found their way in the NCAA regional soccer rankings this week. On the men’s side Lipscomb came in eighth in the South region with FGCU receiving votes. For the women, Mercer makes a showing in the receiving votes category of the Southeast NCAA Regional Rankings.
Lipscomb’s men’s soccer team rank eighth in the first NCAA Regional (South) rankings. The Bisons went 2-0-1 on the week and earned victories 1-0 against Oral Roberts and Marshall. The Bisons’ Alexander Faulk and Brent McGee swept the A-Sun weekly awards for player and defensive player of the week. The Bisons rank behind Gardner-Webb with Wake Forest sitting atop the south regional rankings. FGCU went 1-2-0 on the week against tough competition. The Eagles posted a win against FIU (1-0) but then fell at home to No. 11 USF (1-0) on a goal in the 87th minute. FGCU ended the weekend with an road overtime loss to FAU (1-0) in Boca Raton, Fla.
In their first seven games, the Bears (2-2-1) have faced No. 12 Indiana, No. 17 Georgia and a Vanderbilt team that remains undefeated. Against those powers, Mercer own an 0-2-1 mark, tying Georgia in Athens, Ga., losing 2-0 at Vanderbilt, and dropping a tough decision at home to Indiana, 2-1. Mercer held second-half leads against the Bulldogs and Hoosiers.
