Bears' Betts and Camels' Ferrell Named to Watch List

MACON, Ga. - With the men’s soccer season about to get underway, Will Betts of Mercer and Jackson Ferrell of Campbell each earned spots on CollegeSoccerNews.com’s “100 Freshmen to Watch List.”

Betts joins Mercer from Brenham, Texas where he earned the AGH soccer Player of the Year award and also picked up NCSAA High School All-American honors. He earned ESPN “Rise Magazine” Greater Houston “Prime Time Player” honors twice in his time with Brenham High School. Betts picked up first-team all-state, all-region honors and earned the District 19-4A MVP award in 2008. Betts, a National Honors Society member, helped his team to the Texas 4A state championship game a season ago. He posted 20 goals during his final two high school seasons.

Ferrell, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., comes to the Camels after a successful career with Fayetteville Academy. While at Fayetteville Academy he won two state titles (2005 and 2008) and twice played on runner-up teams. In his four-year career, Ferrell’s team posted a record of 67-11-5 as he scored 58 goals and registered 65 assists.
