Three A-Sun Men's Soccer Teams Ranked
|

MACON, Ga. – Three Atlantic Sun men’s soccer programs earned spots on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas South Region poll in week two. After two weeks of play, Campbell tied for sixth with FGCU and Stetson rounded out the list.
The Fighting Camels, who ended 2007 rated seventh in the always-tough South Region listing, blanked the Seahawks 3-0 last Friday. CU then dropped a 1-0 decision at Liberty last Tuesday. An unscheduled eight-day break from competition postponed the Camels play at William & Mary last Saturday.
The Eagles faced opponents from the Mid-American Conference and the Big East Conference this past weekend, earning a 0-0 (2 OT) tie with Hartwick College and falling 3-0 to Syracuse. The 0-1-1 record earned FGCU a third-place finish in the Mayor’s Cup XXXIII, which also featured UNC Wilmington.
The regional ranking is the second for the program, which began competition one year ago.
The Stetson men's soccer team improved to 2-0-0 on the season with a 4-1 win over FIU (0-3-0) at the Stetson Soccer Complex. On Sunday, the Hatters fell to 2-1-0 on the season with a 1-0 loss to UCF (1-2-0).
The Fighting Camels travel to unbeaten and 23rd-ranked Loyola College on Wednesday. The Eagles will host their first home match this weekend as they welcome Seattle to the FGCU Soccer Complex Friday. The Hatters will be back in action Friday night when they host Florida Atlantic at home.
The NSCAA conducts the most widely recognized national and regional soccer ranking system in the country as a service to the general public and its members. The intent of the rankings program is to stimulate greater interest in men's and women's soccer at the intercollegiate and interscholastic levels and to recognize those programs that are enjoying remarkable success on a regional and national level.
The Atlantic Sun Conference is an 11-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast. The A-Sun consists of some of the most dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, Campbell University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina Upstate and Stetson University.
