BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Mercer men's soccer team competed in their third overtime game of the season, this time falling 1-0 to the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). With the loss the Bears drop to 4-2 on the season, while the Blazers improve to 3-3.
With five minutes remaining in regulation, the Bears had an opportunity to score but two shots off the left post sent the game to overtime. The Blazers cleared a ball and Frank Brown found the back of the net just four minutes into the extra period.
UAB out shot Mercer 15-4, also owning a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks. Junior goal keeper David Bird recorded six saves for the Bears.
