Soto Named to College Soccer News Freshmen Watch List

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell midfielder Josue Soto has been named to the College Soccer News list of 100 Freshmen to watch during the 2007 season. Soto joined the Camels after playing for the South Texas and Region III ODP teams and is also a member of the United States U-18 National player pool. A resident of Monterrey, Mexico, Soto was the second national team player in three years to sign with Coach Doug Hess’ Fighting Camels. Sonny Guadarrama, who now plays for Santos of Mexico and is a member of both the Mexican and United States' Under-20 National team pools, was Hess’ first national team recruit. Guadarrama was the 2005 Atlantic Sun Conference freshman of the year, who also earned freshman all-America honors before turning pro.
In addition to leading Prepa Tec to the 2005 private high school national championship of Mexico, Soto has played with the ODP South Texas State and Region III teams since 2005. Chosen as MVP of the 2005 Lone Star Showcase while playing with the Region III ODP unit, Soto attended national camp with the U.S. U-18s at Carson, Calif. In addition, the Fort Worth, Texas-born Soto is currently a member of the Houston Dynamo Academy U-18 and the Houstonians club programs.
