Date Posted: 10/9/2006
MACON, Ga. GWUs Richard Godfrey and Campbells Aaron Johnson helped lead their respective teams to undefeated weekends while earning weekly honors and keeping both the Bulldogs and the Camels in contention for the regular season Atlantic Sun Conference crown
Godfrey had three goals on Thursday night against North Florida including the game winner, helping lead the 'Dogs to a 3-2 victory. All three shots on frame, Godfrey put into the back of the net. The win over the Ospreys helped vault GWU to the top of the league standings with their 3-1-0 mark. The native of Montego Bay, Jamaica captures his first Player of the Week honor. The junior currently leads the Bulldogs with four goals and four assists. Godfrey majors in Accounting.
Johnson lowered his goals-against average to 1.23 on the year (2nd-best in the A-Sun) by holding the league's top-scoring offense Jacksonville to just one goal and blanking North Florida for his second shutout of the season. Johnson has played all 1100 minutes in the nets for the Camels this season, and ranked 17th nationally in the most recent NCAA statistics in saves per game (4.83). During the last 6 games, Johnson has allowed just 4 goals (and no more than 1 in any match) as the Camels have gone 4-1-1 during the span. With the pair of wins, CU bounced back from a rough opening weekend play and put them in a position to challenge for their second straight regular season crown. The sophomore majors in Government and Pre-Law.
