MACON, Ga. – FGCU swept the Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards as Josey Portillo tallied three points against Rhode Island, while goalkeeper Adam Glick – the 2010 Defensive Player of the Year, recorded the 17th shutout of his career.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Josey Portillo, FGCU (Sr. – Midfielder – Metairie, La. – Sports Management)
- First Career Player of the Week award
- Headed in goal in 68th minute against Rhode Island on free kick for first of the season
- Assisted on game-winning goal in the 50th minute against Rhody
- Helped FGCU to a 4-0 win against Rhode Island – the Eagles first win of the season
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Edgardo Padilla (Sr., Belmont) – Notched the game-winner in Belmont’s 2-1 win against VMI
- Ehjayson Henry (So., Mercer) – Scored a goal against both Georgia State and No. 12 UCF
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Adam Glick, FGCU (Sr. – Goalkeeper – Leola, Pa. – Business/Marketing)
- Sixth Career Player of the Week award
- Posted 4-0 shutout against Rhode Island for first win of the season
- The shutout was the 17th of his career, which ranks fourth-most all-time in the A-Sun
- Also earned his 27th career win
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Brent McGee (Sr., Lipscomb) – Led Bisons to first victory of the season with 1-0 shutout of VMI
