MACON, Ga. - Gianni Catalano placed first in the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson University on Saturday to set a new Kennesaw State record. His dash into first place earned him the final Athlete of the Week award for the 2009 indoor track & field season and his second career honor.

Catalano placed first in the 800-meter run for the second meet in a row, this time crossing the line with a time of 1:54.18. The sophomore's time is second in the conference only to his first place finish at the Niswonger Invitational two weeks ago.

The Amherst, Ohio, native travels to ETSU this weekend with his teammates to defend the indoor track & field title. The championship gets underway on Friday from Johnson City, Tenn.

Other Top Performers:
Harold Sims, Campbell (Sprints/Hurdles - Oxford, N.C. - Jr. - Biological Science) -- Posted the best Campbell finish for the men, placing third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.29 at the Carolina Invitational for his third top-five finish. Also placed 20th in the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles.

Justin Crawford, USC Upstate (Pole Vault - Elgin, S.C. - So. - Biology) -- Earned a fifth-place finish with a 4.40-meter performance (14-05.25), first among any A-Sun contenders. Friday's performance was the second-best finish of Crawford's career. Crawford, leads the A-Sun contenders in the pole vault event, put together another solid performance at the Carolina Invitational.
