Cloyd jumps long, lands first weekly honor

MACON, Ga. - Just two weeks before the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track & Field Championships, ETSU headed to Virginia to compete in the Virginia Tech Elite meet against some of the toughest teams in the SEC and ACC. Senior Josh Cloyd finished with a personal best in the long jump, to earn his first Athlete of the Week award, the conference announced Wednesday.
Cloyd enjoyed a stellar weekend, advancing to the finals in the long jump and just missing an NCAA Provisional Mark by six centimeters after finishing fourth (second amongst collegiate athletes) with a conference-best leap of 7.46 meters.
Despite not reaching a provisional mark, the jump set a new personal best for the chemistry major as well as adding to his impressive lead in the Atlantic Sun performance list. The Telford, Tenn., native's mark on Saturday, is now more than a foot better than any competitor in the league.
The Buccaneers prepare to host the fourth indoor track & field championships Feb. 20-21. The men look to reclaim their championship title from the Kennesaw State Owls.

Other Top Performers:
Cameron Dickerson, UNF (Runner - Jacksonville, Fla. - Fr. - Medical Engineering) -- Boasted a time of 1:55.88 in the 800 meter and 3:36.42 in the 4x400 meter relay. Dickerson finished first in his heat in the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in the 800m, fourth overall.
