Belmont's Peters Earns Seasons First AOTW Award
Macon, Ga. -- Belmont freshman Will Peters was named the Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week by league officials today for his efforts on the track at the Ed Temple Classic in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday.

Peters (Carmel, Ind.) recorded a first place time of 4:29.21 in the mile run. His trip around the track was the first as a member of the Belmont squad as he out-ran a field of 24 competitors.

His recognition by the A-Sun marks the first time in league history that a freshman has been named Athlete of the Week.

The Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the 2007 indoor track season.

The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
