Seamus "Powers" his way to 3rd Monthly Golf Award

Date Posted: 11/8/2007

MACON, Ga. – At the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, ETSU sophomore Seamus Power erased one of the many school records established by Rhys Davies. His 54-hole total of 198 (-15) set a Buccaneer record for a three-day total en route to winning the individual title at the event. For his record-setting performance, he earned his third Golfer of the Month award, the conference office announced on Thursday.

Power’s win added to ever-growing trophy collection. His other individual championship came at Santuary Cove in the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. At the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, he carded rounds of 65-66-67 – one stroke less than the 14-under, 199 Davies recorded at the 2004-05 NCAA East Regional.

In the remainder of the month, Power fired three additional rounds of par or better. One week after his win, he tied for 22nd at the ETSU-hosted Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges, shooting rounds of 72, 71 and 72. He concluded the month by a competing at the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational. Power currently ranks second on the ETSU squad with a stroke average of 72.7.
