Behind two top-eight finishes to open spring play, the University of North Florida golf team has moved into the top 50 in the latest Golfstat rankings, released Wednesday.
UNF is currently 49th in the rankings, its highest spot this season and highest position under head coach Scott Schroeder.
"It has been a while since we've been this high in the rankings," Schroeder said. "We started out the spring with a couple of good tournaments, but our goal is still to jump into the top 25. Now we just have to make sure we don't give any ground back."
UNF ended the fall season 75th in the Golfstat rankings, but has been climbing since finishing sixth at the Gator Invitational and eighth at this week's John Hayt Collegiate Invitational. UNF out-dueled Tennessee, which is ranked 13th in this week's poll, Charlotte (31st) and Pepperdine along with four other schools at Sawgrass Country Club. UNF also finished one stroke behind 14th-ranked UCLA and 21st-ranked Coastal Carolina.
