ORLANDO, Fla. - In its first trip to the postseason, the Jacksonville men's golf team made a run at continuing its season.
After cutting the deficit to five, the Dolphins struggled over the final three holes to finish in a tie for 14th at 31-over par after posting a five-over par 293 in the final round.
In the end, the Dolphins came up short, missing the cut for nationals by finishing 11 shots behind 10th place UNLV.
"We played well today, but we just didn't make enough birdies," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "Christian came in with a good round today to cap the season. This was a great experience for our team and something that we can build on for next season and beyond."
Jamie Kennedy had the best round of the day for the Dolphins, carding a one-under par 71. Despite making the turn at one-over par, Kennedy went two-under par with three birdies on the back nine to finish in 64th place at nine-over for the tournament.
Russell Knox had a solid day for JU as well, rebounding from being four-over par after five holes to card an even-par 72 and finish in a tie for 17th at three-over par, giving him a top 20 finish in all eight tournaments this season.
