JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville men's golf team wrapped up its second tournament title of the season with a 20-stroke victory over Charleston Southern in the El Diablo Intercollegiate.
Duncan Stewart carded rounds of 70, 68 and 69 to win the individual title by six shots at nine-under par, 207. Russell Knox, ranked 34th in the country by Golfstat, finished third at even par with rounds of 69, 72 and 75.
"This was a great win for us to give us some momentum as we make our stretch run," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "Duncan played really well in the final round in tough conditions to win the individual title and Russell was right there in contention as well."
The Dolphins opened the 19-team event with an even par round of 288 and followed it up with a two-over par 290 to take a 20-shot lead into the final round. Despite shooting a 19-over 307 in the final round, JU was able to record the fourth best team score of the day.
