BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Three Fighting Camels finished among the top 11 individuals and Campbell won a four-hole play-off for the team title Tuesday in the Hargrove B. Davis Spring Classic men’s golf tournament at Keith Hills Country Club No. 1.
Isak Pettersen’s birdie putt on the par-4, number-4 hole provided the winning margin for the host Camels, who shot the day’s low round of 300 to recover from a six-stroke deficit heading into the final 18 holes.
Campbell ended the 54-hole tournament at 902 strokes, as did runner-up Liberty. Elon was third (913), followed by George Washington (915) and San Francisco (918) in the 15-school field.
Domingo Jojola of San Francisco won medalist honors with an even-par 216 following Tuesday’s 2-over 74. Brian Carroll of George Washington, who shot the tournament’s low round of 67 on Monday afternoon, was the runner-up at plus-two 218. Matt Cook of Western Carolina was third (220), followed by Campbell’s Fredric Sundberg (75-73-73—221).
