Macon, Ga. - Belmont's Jacob Buckman (So./Louisville, Ky./Undecided) and Troy's Belinda Bargmann (Sr./Longwood, Fla./Biology) have been named the Atlantic Sun Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. Each runner finished second in their respective races on Saturday.
Jacob Buckman has continued to be one of the most consistent runners in the A-Sun this fall after finishing second at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday. Buckman's second place finish time of 24:44.71 is the top 8K time in the league this year by nearly 18 seconds. The sophomore also has had solid finishes earlier this year at Vanderbilt (6th) and in the Belmont Opener (7th). In his freshman year, Buckman was named all-conference and will be looking to earn that honor again at the A-Sun Championship in just over a month.
Belinda Bargmann finished second at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Open on Saturday with a time of 18:29, her best time this year. Her time is the second best 5K in the conference this season. Earlier this year, Bargmann finished sixth at the Georgia State Invitational. The senior was a member of the 2001 A-Sun All-Freshman team.
The Bruins will compete again on Friday night at the Notre Dame Invitational, while Troy takes a few weeks off before returning on October 11th at the Auburn Invitational.
