Don't expect GWU to be intimidated by the setting - Shelby Star

by Alan Ford - Sports Editor

BOILING SPRINGS — With all the buzz around the Gardner-Webb University campus this week about the Bulldogs’ golden opportunity Saturday night against the UNC Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, there’s one thing GWU head coach Rick Scruggs isn’t about to forget.

There’s a game to be played and things like setting screens, blocking out on rebounds, making free throws and the other fundamentals of the game will decide the outcome. The 21,000-plus fans that will be in the sold-out Smith Center for the 8 o’clock tip-off will be loud but won’t really have anything to do with what takes place on the court.

“Our guys haven’t gotten shaken up at any of the places we’ve gone to play,” Scruggs said this week of his Bulldog squad during a break from watching video of the defending national champions.
